Thanks for the interview-link, Graham, looks like a good read.

As for that (very ambitious) Fire-Records release schedule: I wish that this is true, but really can't believe it. The OWOM-remasters were only released digitally because there seems to be no market for physical releases any more. But now Fire Records is planning to re-release within a year even some stuff that still available? And then two multi-disc box-sets within a year? Hmmm

Would be great of course - but 'Blurry Blue Mountain' in October - that's the BIG news for me. Can't wait.

Pretty in-depth interview with Howe here: http://www.blurt-online.com/features/view/658. Talk of Alegrias, the new Giant Sand record, Ow Om, etc. Great read!

i can see no reason to worry or fret about this news, as it is the best GS related news for quite some time. What will be really interesting to see is if there is going to be any bonus material with the cd's?

Not too negative Ian I reckon. There's always a problem with reissues these days as a limited supply of moolah clashes with a desire to buy all and everything especially if there's additional unreleased/rare add ons. Looking at the schedule it won't break the bank for most (hopefully) to buy these as they are released (depending on price etc for sure). I'm not big on download releases preferring a solid piece of plastic with a real cover etc Big problem here is to buy individually or wait for a box set, does one miss out on anything by doing one or the other, it would be the real fanatic who goes for both I reckon.
Curmudgeons both perhaps but I do hope that this does not take the gloss off of what appears to be a valiant attempt to do Howe and the band some justice, get the music out, pull in dollars for the musicians and grab some extra fans.
So, any and all info re the releases welcome to allow us ditherers to make an informed choice.
Overall this is really excellent news. One thing, any chance of a DVD of assorted videos over the years.

With good news there is always bad news.

Fantastic to see the reissues (notwithstanding Live V1 &2, what are they?).

Now there is, as PK points out, the quandry presented to us diehards, do we buy them as they appear (can we resist?) or hold out for a box set that might have additional fetish items included. (like a box, for instance )

I am not familiar with the company /distributer who are handling the reissues but, again, as PK, has said they seem to be cool. Having said that how many GS box sets are going to get sold? A 25 cd box set is not going to be very cheap and although I'd happily place my order today, how many copies can they seriously be hoping to shift?

I say this as I'd hate to hold off buying reissues waiting for a box set that might not turn out to be viable. or ever happen.

Trust me to find something negative to say.

Holy Cow! Fire records looks like a cool label. But what dilemmas, what to buy, wait for the box sets, buy them all, go mad thinking about it. what to tell my wife when we don't go on holiday.

Great work on "Alegrias". Got me cd and vinyl from (http://www.fnac.es/?PID=1&bl=logo).
the vinyl sounds warm and has got a very fine sounding production. The pressing is pretty good and flat. Shipping is in Europe 6,35 Euros.
That Julio Romero de Torres is a fine artist. Check out some of his paintings.

To Biblioke: I'be just put my stuff together and took the eMusic subscription. Thanks for the tip!

o (ladies and gentlemen... & sanguine)
a couple recordings arrived..enjoying El Camino Royales and Naim Amor..it's striking to hear the difference between a mp3 sample file at a website store and actually hearing the cd through my stereo and amped bose speakers; such a huge difference. my AZ cd postal crate is almost full, room for a few more :)

00:08 on Saturday June 19 2010 - dirty from the rain, south-east AB

thanks for the 2666 recommendation... I'm on it. Graham... Tennessee vs. Utah... Well, I'm missing Tennessee. Both states have elements that I love and elements that I do not even like. It's been a change. SLC is actually pretty sweet on many fronts. The film society here brings in great films. A lot of bands pass through here (but not GS). I won't go into a comparison of people and culture on a public board, but both states are, geologically speaking, lovely. Utah's mountains and red rock deserts are splendid. I could go on and on... but won't.
