I think the idea of having some Alegrias for sale via the OW OM store is in the works. So, here is some news as we enter into the summer heat in Tucson. Some new & old friends helping with things these days in the HG/GS world. A good thing to bring in fresh ideas/perspectives + energy to help things along. A number of releases coming out by the fall (including some more reissues) for the 25th anniversary of Giant Sand. I'm still digging through boxes of Howe's recordings. Old + new. Alegrías - I love it more with every listen. Such a warm, inspired and coherent record. Before hearing the album I thought this to be some kind of eclectic low-key side-release with all the flamenco & more rererecordings of Howe-classics. But now I think this stands as one of Howe's finest releases. The flamenco guitars worked fine into Howe's rather slower ramblings, nice contrast. And lots of nice little production ideas to enjoy. Llike the female choir appearing in some of the tracks. And One Diner Town is a fantastic new song! Broken Bird also. Wonder if the record will be released/available outside of Spain, too? The new member is Nicolai Heyman on keyboards/organ and some guitar. And yes, there is a new singer as well, but I didn't quite catch her name. In Salzburg she did "Spiral" almost solo with Howe on piano, very nice with a jazzy inflection, and a few others together with Howe. 09:12 on Monday June 7 2010 - munich

It seems recent shows had an extended Giant Sand line-up: Howe + the Danes plus a new keyboard guitar/player named Nicolai something? And a (also Danish?) singer named Norah Diakro or something?
